Well, this hand-knit sweater is actually named after the White Buffalo Yarn Company, which made its mark on the knitting and fashion world in the 1950s with a line of home knitting patterns based on Cowichan sweater designs hand-knitted by tribes from Vancouver Island, Canada.
Famed knitting company Mary Maxim was also creating Cowichan-inspired sweaters, but they tended to be more fun and whimsical than White Buffalo designs.
