Big Lebowski Dude Sweater
Break out the White Russians, devoted Big Lebowski fans! You can now stagger in and out of trouble Jeffrey Lebowski style, with this cozy replica of his famed vintage sweater.
Originally developed by the Pendleton knitting company in the 1970s and known as The Westerley, the sweater drew inspiration from the distinctively patterned designs of Cowichan sweaters hand-knitted by tribes from Vancouver Island, Canada.
It rocketed to fame (or perhaps infamy?) when actor Jeff Bridges donned the sweater as amiable unemployed slacker Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski in 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski.
A legend was born. Now, across the US, Lebowski Fests draw crowds of “Achievers”, troupes of dancing bowling pins, and character look-alikes. You can buy stuffed animals, action figures and, of course, Dude sweaters new and old.
